Intro to WordPress

If you want to do more than tweak existing themes, Introduction to WordPress with Wes Bos will teach you how to build custom and complex WordPress themes from scratch. In addition to WordPress fundamentals, you’ll learn how the template hierarchy can be harnessed to allow for unlimited custom templates, plus you’ll integrate custom post types and fields, giving your client the power to update their website as desired. If you’re interested in freelancing, this course is not to be missed.

This course is ideal for graduates of our part-time web development courses and freelance web developers. Basic HTML and CSS skills are required for this course. To request a placement test, please contact info@hackeryou.com.

Advanced WordPress
May 15 – Jun 26

In the advanced course, you’ll dive even deeper into WordPress. You will learn how to create your own custom functions to output desired data. You’ll learn how the WordPress JSON API works and how we can use it to create rich and dynamic web experiences. Other advanced topics will include Sass, a tool to write more powerful and modular CSS, Gulp.js to discover how you can automate your workflow, and finally, you’ill learn how to deploy and manage production-ready WordPress sites.

This course allows students with basic knowledge of WordPress to dive deeper into the full functionality and power of the CMS. This course will teach you everything you need to know to create ambitious start-to-finish websites from scratch, truly unlocking the power of WordPress as a CMS.

Wes Bos is an independent full stack web developer from Hamilton. He is passionate about design, development and business, spending most of his time working with JavaScript, Node, CSS3, HTML5, Wordpress and PHP. Wes enjoys pushing the limits of new technology and publishes HTML5 and Node.js experience and tutorials to his blog. Wes has published Sublime Text Power User — a book on Sublime Text as well as released the training series React For Beginners.
