Intro & Advanced Web Development are our most popular part-time courses.
Intro and Advanced Web Development are our two most popular part-time courses. When you come to HackerYou, we commit to teaching you real, tangible web development skills. All of our part-time courses are immersive. We offer two options for our web development classes: twice a week in the evenings, or once a week on Saturdays. Regardless of which option you choose, both Intro and Advanced web development run for six weeks each. To build skills you have to put in the time, and we’ve made it easy and fun!
All of our part-time courses are led by talented instructors who can’t wait to teach you the latest web development skills. With hundreds of in-class exercises, and intensive projects, you’ll leave HackerYou with real skills, and a portfolio you’ll want to show off. While you’re here, we offer tons of support to help you meet your goals. We offer one-on-one time with your instructors, and access to our ever-growing alumni community. There’s always someone available if you need extra help.
What can I expect?
Our Intro and Advanced Web Development courses give you the skills needed to produce rich, responsive websites using HTML5 and CSS3.
Our part-time courses are perfect for tech-savvy beginners. Whether you’ve completed a Ladies Learning Code workshop, played around online, or are a coding novice looking to develop the skills to build a website from scratch, there’s something for everyone in part-time web development.
At HackerYou, we don’t want to create generalists. Our courses are meant to help you learn how to actually code. You’ll leave our part-time courses with actual skills that you can put into practice in the real world. We’re thoughtful about what we choose to cover, and we make sure that each class has the time to cover the topic thoroughly.
Our part-time courses are a blend of lessons and hands-on exercises. After each lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to test and strengthen your learning through an exercise or challenge. In Intro to Web Development, you’ll complete over 100 exercises, and you’ll build a single-page site from scratch using the skills you’ve learned. In Advanced Web Development, you’ll complete over 150 exercises, and you’ll complete two projects to test your learning. If you take both classes, you’ll have built three complete websites from scratch.

Why part-time web development?
Tons of support
For all of HackerYou’s part-time courses, there are three instructors in every class. Our 10:1 ratio of students to instructors ensures that you can get the help you need at the exact moment you need it.
The best content
We worked with professional educators (people with degrees in education!) to design the course and develop our curriculum. Our content and exercises are updated constantly to keep the material fresh and highly relevant.
Be a big fish in a small pond
Each HackerYou part-time course has about 30 students. This allows our classes to be hands-on and project-based, but also social and collaborative.
Learn with the best and brightest
HackerYou's part-time courses are designed for tech-savvy beginners. We interview everyone before they're accepted to ensure they're going to be a good fit.
Learning for everyone
Our part-time curriculum was designed for everyone. Whether you like to learn with drawings and charts; by reading; or by listening and reviewing later – each lesson is accompanied by exercises to give you many opportunities to practice what you’re learning.
Our part-time classes run either twice a week in the evening, or once a week on Saturdays. Regardless of your other commitments, we’re committed to helping you learn. Whichever option you choose; you’ll have six hours of class a week over six weeks.
A modern classroom
We use technology to make learning more efficient. We use real industry tools like Slack and Basecamp to connect students outside of class. We’ve even built our own course notes system, which gives students access to updates long after their course has ended.

What will I learn?
What will I build?
One of the best things about the tech industry is that it’s about what you can build. At HackerYou, our emphasis is ensuring you can create dynamic projects that show off your skills. In both Intro and Advanced Web Development, you’ll build websites from scratch. Check out some examples below:
Intro: Project One
For this project, you will build a single-page site for a fictional client of your choice, or for yourself, utilizing the skills you’ve learned in the course. You’lll be required to use semantic HTML elements to describe your content, and CSS to style IMG elements and backgrounds.
Advanced: Project One
For this project, you will build a site from a provided design file. One of the best ways to improve your coding skills is to take an existing design and replicate it in HTML and CSS. This lets you focus solely on your code to improve your technical skills!
Advanced: Project Two
Make a personal website, portfolio, or build a client project. Your site must be responsive, and should integrate all the tools and tricks you’ve learned in this class. This is your time to shine. If you nail this project, you could comfortably take on web projects upon completion.
