Last Thursday night, a group of brand-new Ruby on Rails developers made their debut as newly-minted coders on the stage in the Shopify lounge in front of a few dozen friends, family members, Shopify staff and members of the Ottawa tech community. The students had the opportunity to show off what they've been working on so hard all summer -- and needless to say we were impressed. We saw demos of everything from educational products to apps for the medical community. (Stay tuned for a blog post featuring the apps!) We also wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate the students on successfully completing HackerYou's first Ruby on Rails Summer Academy, and to thank some of the very awesome people who helped make it happen: _To the entire Shopify team: _Thank you for welcoming us into your space for two months. You have all been incredible and we're so grateful for your support. _To Nick and Edward: _Thank you for guiding our very first Summer Academy cohort to success and for being the incredible educators that you are. _To all of our Mentors: _Without you, this simply would not have been possible. Thank you for your dedication! _To Tobi, Daniel, Harley, Theresa, Serena and Andrew: _Thank you for sharing your advice and wisdom with the class. And that's a wrap, folks. It's been an incredible summer, and we can't wait to get started with our Fall 2013 courses! If you want more HackerYou, feel free to browse our upcoming courses, including our very-first Full-Time Front End Bootcamp starting January 27th.
